Ted Malota will partner with Dave “Forrest Fisher” Barus for a how-to, hands-on, fish-catching “Lake Erie Fishing Seminar” at West Falls Conservation Society on Saturday.
Presentations will go from noon to 3 p.m. in the West Falls clubhouse at 55 Bridge St., covering trip preparations and rig set-ups for many popular fish species and the many and varied upgrades in tackle and electronics now available for modern anglers.
A $10 donation for adults goes to youth education programs; kids under age 12 are admitted free.

The following week, Barus will coordinate the Ninth Annual Jimmy Griffin “Teach Me to Fish” at Bison City Rod & Gun Club, 511 Ohio St. Keyed to both kids and parents, the April 28 even, which is free, brings together parents and caregivers with youths ages 15 and younger for informative sessions at six learning stations.
Events will go from 2 to 4 p.m. that Sunday, with free Sahlen’s hot dogs and area fishing maps provided.
Prizes in a drawing for kids include hats, baits, Lucky Fish Hooks, and 50 rod and reel combinations given to winning youths.

Kids camp sites
The Department of Environmental Conservation now provides online registration for all four statewide sites offering programs for campers ages 11 to 17.
