Canisius clinched at least a share of its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season women’s lacrosse championship with a 13-6 win at Fairfield on Saturday. It was the ninth straight win for the Griffs, who are 11-3 overall and 5-0 in MAAC play. It’s the longest winning streak in the history of women’s lacrosse at Canis8ius “We are playing our best lacrosse of the season right now and were excellent in all three areas of the field – offense, defense and in transition. We continue to improve each day and I’m excited to see how far we can take this,” said Canisius coach Scott Teeter. Senior Morgan Leonard and junior Maria Kotas (Lancaster) led the Griffs with four goals each. Senior Lindsey Morgan (Lancaster) and sophomore Whitley Perry had two goals each while Meghan Curry added a single tally. Sophomore Kay Scully made a career-high 12 saves.
Canisius can clinch the outright MAAC title and the tournament’s number one seed with a win over Marist on April 27.
