Calling all camps!
The Buffalo News will publish its annual directory of summer camps in Western New York on May 1. If you would like your camp listed, please email the information to Kelly Boquard at email@example.com or to Deputy Sports Editor Dennis Danheiser at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no charge. Deadline is April 25.
Money from the 2010 Empire State Games in Buffalo continues to pay dividends. The Legacy Fund Scholarship, paid for out of revenue generated by those successful games, was established to award scholarships and grants to further develop amateur sports in the Buffalo Niagara region.
A $2,500 scholarship again will be awarded to one male and one female who has participated in the Games and demonstrated academic excellence and leadership in the community. Application deadline for this year is May 17 and the winners will be announced May 31.
Candidates must be a resident of Erie or Niagara county and have participated in the Empire State Games as an athlete, coach, or volunteer. Candidates must be a full-time high school, college or graduate student. They must maintain at least 2.0 GPA or a C average.
Students must complete the application form, offer two reference letters, write an essay and include their transcripts. Completed materials should be mailed to: Empire State Games Legacy Fund, c/o Buffalo Niagara Sports Commission, 617 Main St. Suite 200, Buffalo, 14203.

FOOTBALL: Buffalo State College head coach Jerry Boyes and players will present a free coaches’ clinic Monday at 7 p.m. at the Houston Gym on campus. All youth, high school and college coaches are welcome. HOCKEY: The Cheektowaga Youth & Rec. Services Inline league is accepting registrations from adult teams for the summer season. Registrations are available at the Cheektowaga Recreation Center on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $100 deposit is required at registration.
