Just prior to embarking on a tour with the only living member of the Ramones, Marky Ramone, Andrew W.K. brings his solo tour to the newly opened Waiting Room (334 Delaware Ave.) at 7 p.m. Monday.
When I say “solo tour,” I mean it literally. For this jaunt, dubbed “The Human Party Machine Tour,” Andrew W.K. will be armed with “only a microphone, a keyboard and the will to survive,” according to his website. Anyone who has ever been in the man’s presence surely has faith in his ability to pull off the one-man freak show act rather handily – the self-described “king of party rock” simply bubbles with energy, in conversation over dinner (ours took place at the now-closed Billy Ogden’s several years back) or on the concert stage.
Fittingly, Andrew W.K. specifically sought out smaller, more intimate venues for the “Party Machine” shows, and the Waiting Room fits the bill perfectly. Expect the man to be right up in your face. Tickets are $18 advance, $20 day of show (Ticketfly.com).
