LARKIN LORE – One of the first infomercials ever made will be screened at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Forest Lawn as part of its concert and lecture series. Jerry Puma, a Larkin Co. enthusiast and renowned collector, will premiere a 1910 Thomas Edison kinetoscope motion picture, “The Box From Larkin.”

The presentation will include actual products shown in the film, plus rare images of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Larkin Administration Building. In addition, Adria Ryan will perform songs from the early 1900s on Forest Lawn’s historic Wurlitzer organ. Seating is limited. Reservations are required. Tickets are $15 at www.forest-lawn.com.

HANDSOME HAIR – The Buffalo Whiskerino, a group that grows mustaches for fun and fundraising, holds its sixth annual Mustache Pageant at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Gordon’s Bar, 2263 Delaware Ave. at Tioga Street. Fans get to vote for their favorite mustache grower by making contributions to Compass House, which provides emergency shelter and services for runaway youth and teens. A Mustache King and Prince will be crowned, and prizes will be given for best costume and best fundraiser. Previous pageants have raised a total of more than $46,000.

CENTURY PLUS – Teddy Roosevelt was president when Harriet LaValley was born on this date in 1907 in Mooers, a little town in northern New York on the border of Quebec. One of seven children, she still has a 96-year-old sister living.

An Orchard Park resident for more than 20 years, she celebrates today in the Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca, where she has been living since 2009.

She has one daughter, one son, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Performers include violist and violinist Leslie Bahler, mezzo sopranos Lisa Berglund and Elizabeth Wojtowicz, soprano Maria Goodrich, tenor Paul Waara, pianist David Wang and accompanist Linda Mabry.

The music will be drawn from Bach, Beethoven, Bellini, Benjamin Britten, William Bolcom, Samuel Barber, Adolpha Le Beau and Irving Berlin. Tickets are $7, $5 for seniors and students, $10 for families of three or more.
