Western New York is filling up with Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

Rochester-based franchise owner Steve Christensen has opened seven of the fast-casual burger joints in the Buffalo and Rochester markets so far and plans to open five more by June 2014.

“I can’t put them up fast enough,” Christensen said. “They’ve been very well-received.”

A Five Guys is scheduled to open in the former Hollywood Video store in North Buffalo’s Delaware Consumer Square by the middle of next month while Christensen negotiates a lease on a yet-to-be announced location in Niagara Falls.

Additional locations are being planned for Jamestown, Amherst and Victor.

Five Guys currently has locations in the Walden Galleria in Cheektowaga, on McKinley Parkway in Hamburg and on Transit Road at Maple Road in East Amherst, along with four stores in Rochester.

Christensen is looking to expand eventually into Lockport, Lancaster and somewhere near Chippewa Street.
