Zed Williams had just one goal Tuesday afternoon. But it was about as big as it could be.

Williams, the standout senior headed to the University of Virginia, scored with 2:49 left to give Silver Creek an 11-10 Class C victory at Eden.

Williams had several assists as sophomore attackmen Brennan White and Sherman Williams (Zed’s younger brother) each scored four goals for the three-time defending Section VI Class C champion Black Knights.

“We were winning much of the game,” said Eden coach Chris Archabald, “but in the fourth quarter, Zeddie did start to take over the faceoff ‘X’ on us and control the game with his dodge-and-feeds. White and Sherman Williams benefited from Zeddie’s creating.”

Senior Brady Bermingham had five goals for Eden while senior goalie Conor Nowak kept the Raiders in the game.

In baseball, Corey Barczykowski came within one out of a no-hitter in an 11-strikeout performance as Alden won at Batavia, 4-2. Barczykowski allowed one earned run and one unearned run in the seventh before Jake McNamara came on for the save.

Jason Hellwig threw a one-hitter for Medina (3-2) in a 5-3 victory over CSAT in the teams’ Niagara-Orleans opener.

Jude Gardner had three hits and three RBIs as Fredonia of CCAA I rolled to a 13-2 nonleague victory over St. Francis of the Monsignor Martin Association.
