LEWISTON – The Lewiston Village Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday on its proposal to lower sewer and water rates.

The board has proposed dropping the sewer rate by 6 cents to $4.59 per 100 cubic feet of water used and reducing the water rate by 6 cents to $3.49 per 100 cubic feet of water used. The board has also proposed removing a $5 surcharge per billing cycle. If approved, these changes would become effective July 1.

The public hearing is slated for Village Hall, 145 N. Fourth St.

The board last week adopted its tentative $3.3 million budget for 2013-14, holding the line on taxes at $7.12 per $1,000 of assessed valuation following a public hearing.
