Glenn G. Bailey, of Grand Island, president and owner of Elmwood Warehousing Co., died last Thursday in Florida, where he had a vacation home. He was 63.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He joined the Merchant Marine in 1975 and developed a love of sailing and exploring new places. He sailed extensively on local waterways.

Mr. Bailey also obtained his pilot’s license in 1981 and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

After obtaining a large building at 1800 Elmwood Ave. that housed Top Notch Provisions in the late 1980s, he converted it into warehouse space that he made available for self-storage.

An East Amherst resident before he moved to Grand Island in 2003, he maintained a condo in Bradenton, Fla., for the past three years.

Surviving are a son, Glenn J., and two daughters, Lisa Bona and Melissa Caccamise.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lombardo Funeral Home, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst.
