Richard L. Stahle, a Vietnam War veteran and certified skilled millwright, died last Wednesday in his City of Tonawanda home while under the care of Hospice of Buffalo during a short illness. He was 73.
A Buffalo native, he attended McKinley High School and left to finish his schooling in the Navy from 1958 to 1964.
He was trained and certified as a skilled millwright while in the Navy. He worked at local factories, including Markel Electric & Fedders MFG, before retiring in 2004 from Tonawanda Coke to care for his ailing wife, Nancy C. Pfeil Stahle, who died in 2005.
Mr. Stahle lived in Niagara Falls and the City of Tonawanda for the past 18 years.
His hobbies included building hand-crafted wood models, including the Flight of Angels Helium Balloon Ride.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Asbury; a brother, Frederick Jr.; and three sisters, Jeanette Boje, Paulette Baez and Brenda Mueller.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday in John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 Williams St., City of Tonawanda. An honor guard flag folding ceremony will be at 6:15.
