Registration is open for volunteers to take part in the second annual “I Love My Park Day” on May 4 at state parks and historic sites across New York.
Sponsored by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and Parks & Trails New York, the program invites volunteers to help clean and spruce up more than 70 locations.
Parks in Western New York include Allegany State Park, Artpark, Deveaux Woods State Park, Evangola State Park, Knox Farm State Park, Old Fort Niagara and Wilson-Tuscarora State Park. Also taking part will be the Buffalo Olmsted Parks.
In addition to clearing storm damage and other debris from park lands and beaches, volunteers will plant trees and gardens, restore trails and wildlife habitat, remove invasive plants and work on various improvement projects. To register online, visit www.ptny.org/ilovemypark.
