Marco’s Italian Deli, a mainstay on Hertel Avenue, has opened a location on Grand Island inside the Grand Island Gas Market, 1441 Ransom Road.

The deli replaces Canadian cafe chain Coffee Culture, which closed about three months ago.

“This is a better fit,” said Nicholas Tollar Jr., partner and vice president at Marco’s. “There is a big community here and we have been very well received.”

Marco’s Fine Italian Dining has been a fixture on Niagara Street for 25 years. Owner Mark Sciortino opened the first Marco’s Italian Deli on Hertel Avenue 15 years ago. Grand Island is its fourth deli location.

The Gas Market has seen quite a few changes since it opened its doors 11 months ago.

Originally opened under the banner Dino Mart, the newly-launched chain’s owners, NOCO Energy Corp., had to change the name when Utah-based Sinclair Oil claimed ownership of the name.
