Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo, the group that sponsored last year’s City of Night festival in the industrial complex known as Silo Cities, is hosting a kind of cabaret variety show Saturday night in the Alt Theatre. “ELABaret: The Perils of Love” will feature readings, visual art and performances that range from “serious to silly and even scandalous.”

Included in the program are playwright Justin Karcher, artist Marissa Lehner, dancer Leslie Fineberg and the Stripteasers, one of Buffalo’s busier burlesque performance groups. The eclectic affair will be overseen by emcees Cat McCarthy of the Stripteasers and artist Tara Sasiadek. ELAB, which emerged from the rising creative spirit of Amherst Street and its most popular art space, 464 Gallery, has been an increasingly vocal presence on the city’s art scene since it officially formed in 2010. – Colin Dabkowski
