I come from the dark, hip-hop-influenced side of dubstep,” writes Canadian electronic dance music artist Datsik, aka Troy Beetles, on his official website. That statement is borne out by Datsik’s musical persona, which finds him creating what his publicist calls “hip-hop future-tech bangers” for adoring throngs of danceaholics around the country.

Dubstep may be on the wane as the “next big thing” in the electronic dance music community, but Datsik is one of the form’s more vibrant artists, and has always kept things interesting by seeking fresh collaborators to work with – Jonathan Davis of Korn and members of trance-metal outfit Infected Mushroom just a few of the many – and regularly sneaking his myriad influences into his sets.

Datsik brings the party at 8 tonight to the Town Ballroom (681 Main St.). Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 (box office, Tickets.com).
