A Buffalo man fought with police who found him hiding in a garbage can on 19th Street late Sunday, after they arrested him on a second-degree burglary charge for stealing items from a home in the 400 block of Hampshire Street.

Moses Maldonado, 21, who police said is homeless, was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of marijuana, criminal mischief and harassment.

He is accused of breaking into a Hampshire Street house and stealing a TV set, gold earrings, an iPod, cellphone and a pair of ear buds. Police said they also suspect him in other break-ins.
