The University at Buffalo baseball team won its weekend series against Western Michigan as they split a double-header Saturday, losing the opener, 4-3, and coming back in the nightcap for a 7-5 victory. The Bulls won the opener Friday night.

After being held to just six hits in the first game Saturday, the Bulls had four hits in the first inning alone to kick off the second game. The Bulls jumped out to 5-0 lead after two innings. Western Michigan rallied to within 5-4 in the sixth, but River McWilliams pitched the seventh for his fifth save in his first 26 innings of the season.

Niagara’s swept Manhattan for the first time since 2005 by taking both games of a double-header at Bobo Field, 7-0 and 2-1. Jordan Schwartz (1-2) threw a complete game six-hitter to get the shutout. Evan Wexler provided all the offense NU would need with a two-run homer in the second game and winning pitcher Jim Fort (2-3) yielded five hits, throwing six innings without a walk.

After dropping the first game of a double-header to Butler, 9-6, St. Bonaventure received a pinch-hit RBI single and three-run home run in Mark Hutmacher’s only two at bats en route to an 8-3 victory in the nightcap.
