Birth rates declining all around the world

A recent letter regarding the writer’s experiences with the United Nations NGO is apparently in the 20th century. Recent data from the U.N. Population Division clearly demonstrates population growth is slowing, and if current trends persist our growth will halt right around 8 billion by 2045 and begin a population decline. Birth rates are in decline all over the world.

The tragic loss of children due to hunger and disease is caused by poor allocation of resources, not due to a lack of resources. Continuing improvements in agriculture production and water purification technology support our current population increases.

The writer stated that the Catholic Church should allow the use of birth control. Perhaps the church has been prophetic in saving the world from its own selfishness.
