SAUSAGE SHOWDOWN – There’s still time to enter Buffalo’s Best Kielbasa Contest. Applications are being accepted in both the commercial and homemade categories until Saturday. The contest will take place from noon to 2 p.m., accompanied by a Polish beer-tasting, with three tastes for $1 or whole bottles at the usual prices. Fee to take part in the contest as a taster will be $10 and includes a ballot for the People’s Choice Award, a draft beer, a commemorative cup for beer-tasting and admission to evening activities at the library, which begin at 4.

FISH GALORE – Second Chance Sheltering Network Inc., the no-kill animal rescue organization based in Springbrook, hosts a BW’s fish fry from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Good Friday in the Main-Transit Fire Hall, 6777 Main St., Amherst. STARTING YOUNG – Habitat for Humanity Buffalo holds the last in its series of three do-it-yourself workshops from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in its ReStore South outlet, 1675 South Park Ave. Habitat’s construction manager, Chuck Drumsta, will introduce children 8 and up to the safe and proper use of basic tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, files and saws.
