Canisius finished fourth as Stanford won its seventh U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championship on Saturday in Stanford, Calif. The host Cardinal won the team, duet and trio finals to amass 97 points. Defending champion Ohio State was next with 78 points. Lindenwood (Va.) was third with 76 and Canisius had 65. Svetlana Ponkratova of Canisius was fourth in solo, the best finish by the Griffs. Victoria Mintz and Ponkratova were fifth in duet while the Canisius team of Melissa Andrews, Laina Gray, Morgan LeBrec, Jessica Mancini, Mintz, Viktoria Mironova, Ponkratova, and Laura Schmidt was fifth.


BASEBALL: Team looking for one or two players to complete a top 13U travel team. Team plays between 40-55 games between league and tournaments. Players may not turn 14 before May 1. Call 949-7925.

BASKETBALL: Girls 15U and 16U AAU tryouts will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday at North Buffalo Community Center, 203 Sanders Road. All participants must preregister at . . . Youth basketball at the Gloria Parks Community Center will begin in early April. Ages 6-9 will play on Tuesdays from April 9-May 21, ages 10-14 on Wednesdays from April 10-May 22 and ages 15-17 on Thursdays from April 11-May 23. The Depew High School Leadership in Action and Student Senate are sponsoring a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament to benefit the Depew Boys and Girls Club on April 13 at 9 a.m. in the Depew High School large gym. The tournament will feature three brackets: high school girls, high school boys, and an open bracket for players from the community. HOCKEY: Cazenovia Park Midget Hockey will host tryouts for the 16-under non-tournament-bound team. Tryouts run from 9-9:50 p.m. April 9, from 8-9:20 p.m. April 10 and from 8-8:50 p.m. April 11. All tryouts are $10 and players from other organizations must have a signed 2012-13 release and a copy of their birth certificate. Email or call 860-2846. ... Niagara County Coyotes Bantom Minor AA is looking for skilled players. The team will play an aggressive AA schedule, ice time three times a week, local and out of town tournaments and clinics and off-ice training. All tryouts will be held at Hyde Park Ice Arena. The Buffalo Sabres Alumni members will conduct eight separate hockey clinic sessions for children playing at the Instruction, Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee and Girls 14-and-under levels on April 2 at First Niagara Center. The clinic goal is to inform and instruct participants on how they can improve every aspect of their game. Cost of the one-hour clinic is $35 per participant. Each child will receive on-ice instruction from former Sabres players and a commemorative jersey. Each session is limited to 30 participants.
