The University at Buffalo baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the ninth to overcome a 4-0 deficit and surprise Central Michigan, 5-4, on Saturday at Monroe Community College in Rochester. It was UB’s Mid-American Conference season opener. The game was played at Monroe because it has an artifical turf surface.

Alex Baldock hit the walk-off double to drive in Jason Kanzler, after Kanzler had just hit a three-run double to tie the game. Left handed Ben Hartz (2-0) picked up the win in relief.

It was the first time since 2002 UB opened its conference schedule with a win.
