Florence Jankowski, of Snyder, whose talents included modeling, dancing and painting, died on her 98th birthday Wednesday in Wedgewood Health Care Facility, Amherst.

Born Florence Bialkowski in Buffalo, she attended School 11 and was a graduate of Kensington High School.

She was a model during the 1930s in several downtown department stores. Fond of elegant styles, she made most of her own clothes.

She enjoyed dancing and won several dance competitions with her husband.

She and her husband also traveled extensively, visiting the Caribbean and Europe. While traveling in Monte Carlo, they once met Princess Grace of Monaco.

She also was noted for her artistic skills and filled her home with her paintings.

She was a member of Lancaster Country Club and the Polish Arts Club of Buffalo.

Her husband of nearly 70 years, Chester J., a supermarket owner, died in 2008.

Surviving are a son, Chester A.; a daughter, Barbara Rivett; and a sister, Loretta Stachura.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main St., Eggertsville.
