PORTER – CWM Chemical Services announced this week that it has paid local governments and school districts nearly $900,000 in 2012 gross receipts taxes.
The $892,994 payment, based on 6 percent of gross revenues, far exceeded last year’s total of $646,401. These payments, mandated in state law, are made in addition to property and school taxes paid by the hazardous waste landfill, spokeswoman Lori Caso said.
The towns of Porter and Lewiston each received one-third of the total, or $297,665. The remaining third was split among the Lewiston-Porter, Niagara Wheatfield and Wilson school districts, based on total enrollments. Lew-Port was paid $218,795, Niagara Wheatfield $62,386 and Wilson $16,483.
