The Red Cross assisted two adults and a child after an early-afternoon fire today at their 2½- story frame house at 418 Busti Ave. A dog perished in the fire.

One firefighter was treated for injuries suffered in dealing with the fire, which began on the second-floor of the structure and caused $50,000 damage to the building and $10,000 damage to contents.

The fire, which was called in at 1:20 p.m., also caused $5,000 damage to the adjoining house at 414 Busti.

The cause remains under investigation.
