The Buffalo News will publish its annual directory of summer camps in Western New York in late April. Kevin Ferguson received the Hall of Fame Award and the Schlee/Nostrant Award went to Dave Hoch at the annual banquet of the Western New York Basketball Officials Board 53 IAABO. Dave Acanford and Scott Heiligenthaler received 25-year awards.
The slate of officers elected is: president, Benji Bluman; vice-presidents, Dan Nostrant and Kevin Ferguson; interpreter, Mark Clifford; sergeant-at-arms, John Bycina; executive secretary, Bob Miske; and board of directors, Dan Finucane, Michael O’Bryan, Dennis Piekarski and George Siefert.
Buffalo News sports writer Jay Skurski will speak about the upcoming National Football League Draft, and the upcoming Buffalo Bills season, at 7 p.m. April 16 at the Brighton Place Library, 999 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda. The event is free, and attendees can participate in a “Draft Expert” contest, with a prize going to the person who correctly predicts the most Bills draft choices.
Gymnast Julia Schreier, a level 9 competitor at the Lucky Starts Invitational, finished second in the all around (33.65), second on the vault (8.90), and third on the floor (8.75). She qualifies for the State Championships at Brockport State.
BASEBALL: Registration for Kensington Little League will start March 25 at the Concession Stand at McCarthy Park, 6-7:30 p.m., for boys and girls ages 5-17. Call 491-1253.
BASKETBALL: Sacred Heart Academy and Sister Maria Pares, a member of the NYS coaching Hall of Fame, will host five basketball clinics on April 27, May 4-18 and June 1 for girls in grades 3-7. Cost is $10 per clinic or $40 for all five. Call 834-2101, ext. 311.
HOCKEY: The Buffalo Stars will hold a goalie-only tryout session for their junior and midget teams, April 8 at 4 p.m. at Holiday Twin Rinks. Visit buffalostars or call 685-1122.
SOCCER: The Delaware Soccer Club will hold an open registration Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in the lobby of the TriMain Building, 2495 Main St., Buffalo, for boys and girls ages 3-13. Call 833-3616.

The Town of Tonawanda is accepting registration for resident and non-resident youth softball and baseball players in the tee ball 6-U, coach pitch 8-U, girls 10-U, 13-U, 16-U, and boys 10-U, 12-U, 15-U and 18-U age groups.
