“YW’s Working Women,” an exhibit following the history of the YWCA’s training, support and advocacy for women in the workplace, will mark the closing of National Women’s History Month in the Larkin @ Exchange building, 726 Exchange St.
The exhibit, which will open with a cocktail reception from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. next Wednesday, will include early YWCA programs to prepare women for jobs sewing in clothing factories, working in World War II defense plants and as office secretaries.
It also will highlight YWCA efforts to promote workplace safety, equal pay and equal rights.
Tickets for the reception are $45 and are available by contacting Nadine DiStefano at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 440-4152. Sponsorships also are available. All proceeds will support the YWCA’s at-risk youth and educational programming in Erie County.
