LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Legislature voted unanimously Tuesday to refinance $13.35 million worth of bonded debt it incurred between 2004 and 2006. The lower interest rates on the refinancing are expected to save the county an estimated $870,000 in interest costs over the next 10 years.
In another matter, the Legislature awarded a $172,000 contract to R.B. Mac Construction Co. of Lockport to repair the county fire training towers in Lockport and Wheatfield.
Fire Coordinator Jonathan F. Schultz said the “burn rooms” in the tower are to be relined with ceramic tiles to make them safer places for training.
