FORESTVILLE – Linda Aures, who has been serving as a village trustee since last year, was elected mayor Tuesday over Katherine “Beth” Bowker, who has been serving as mayor.

Aures’ election as mayor leaves a vacancy for a trustee. Aures said she won’t rush to fill the spot. She said she wants to be sure that whoever joins the board is sincere and interested in the problems of the village.

She also said she wants to reinstate a Neighborhood Watch Program because there have been many incidents of vandalism.

Aures will be joined on the Village Board by newcomers Kevin Johnson and Margaret “Mindy” Borrello, who won trustee seats.

The unofficial vote totals show Aures with 121; Bowker, 94; Johnson, 142; and Borrello, 102. Gloria Yeager had 95 votes for trustee, and Kim Stott had 55.

Forestville’s next regular meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Building.
