The Buffalo Junior Sabres gave up three power-play goals and lost to the host North York (Ont.) Rangers, 4-1, in the OJHL playoffs. The Junior Sabres fell behind, 3-1, in the best-of-seven-series.

Tyler Gjurich scored a power-play goal on assists from Ryan Schmelzer and Nick Scamurra at 14:32 of the second period, but by that time Buffalo trailed, 4-0. The third period was scoreless. North York goalie Jason Pucciarelli finished with 41 saves and lowered his goals against average to 2.45. Buffalo goalie Parker Gahagen made 30 saves.

The Junior Sabres will try to avoid elimination in tonight’s home game at 8:40 p.m. at the First Niagara Center.
