Richard S. Koziarski, who worked for the highway department in Darien Center for 31 years and retired as highway superintendent, died Wednesday in Absolut Care, East Aurora, after a long illness. He was 82.
Mr. Koziarski graduated from Alexander High School in 1949 and married the former Eleanor D. Graham on Sept. 19, 1951. He started at the highway department of Darien Center in 1957 and was eventually elected highway superintendent. He retired in 1988.
Mr. Koziarski attended services at Batavia Seventh-Day Adventist Church and the Unity Southtowns Church. He was a member of Niagara Frontier Dairy Goat Association and New York State Dairy Goat Breeders Association. In addition to showing dairy goats, he enjoyed reading, gardening, operating heavy equipment and carpentry.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Deborah E. Koziarski and Diane M. Teti; and a son, Richard A.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 7 in Buffalo Suburban Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5580 Genesee St., Lancaster.
