Lent is a time of reflection but also of hope, as the weather warms and our spirits rise. The virtuosic a cappella chamber choir Vocalis is celebrating this unique season with a concert described as “a spiritual journey through the centuries, transporting the listener to a place of peace and tranquility.”

“Sacred Reflections” includes sacred and secular music. It reaches back through the centuries and then forward again with selections by Henry Purcell, Orlando Gibbons, Robert Ramsey, William Billings, Rene Clausen, Steven Sametz, Moses Hogan and Mack Wilberg, the director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

There are three performances:

At 8 p.m. Friday, Vocalis sings at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 South Buffalo St., Orchard Park. Admission is $15 general, students $10.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, the venue changes to Blessed Sacrament Church, 1035 Delaware Ave. Admission is $15, students $10.

And at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the chorus gives a final performance at the newly completed Ciminelli Recital Hall, Rockwell Hall, Buffalo State College. Admission is $10.

At all three concerts, kids 12 and under get in free.
