The Erie County Commission on the Status of Women is leading a community effort to create a permanent tribute to honor victims, celebrate survivors of domestic violence and raise awareness of the issue.
The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, 724 Delaware Ave.
About three dozen community volunteers have come together to develop ideas and plan logistics. Suggestions include a tree grove or garden.
More volunteers and professionals are needed for guidance on the final concept, design and location.
Proceeds from the commission’s 2012 and 2013 Break the Cycle Bike-a-Thon and Walk will help fund the project.
