A 36-year-old LaSalle Avenue woman has been arrested for allegedly keeping a handicapped 18-year-old woman suffering from cerebral palsy padlocked in a rear bedroom of her house.

Buffalo police said Thursday that the Fire Department helped them to force their way into the house before they freed the young woman on Tuesday. Nobody else was home at the time, but officers later arrested Janine L. Curry about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Curry is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person and unlawful imprisonment in the second-degree.

Police reports do not indicate what was done to accommodate the needs of the young woman.
