A 24-year-old Martha Street man was arrested on assault and other charges after he allegedly injured a woman public safety assistant and a male nurse in separate incidents hours apart Tuesday at Erie County Medical Center on Grider Street.

Dante Collier was charged with second and third-degree assault for allegedly causing the woman staffer to suffer a concussion about 10:45 a.m. and the male nurse to suffer broken ribs trying to restrain him about 7:14 p.m.

Collier is accused of pushing the woman against a door while he was being admitted to the hospital's psychiatric unit. He also is accused of repeatedly punching a male licensed practical nurse in the ribs when he became agitated as the nurse tried to redirect him in the psychiatric unit that evening.

Collier is also accused of making verbal threats to fight and assault various members of the hospital staff. In addition to the assault counts, Collier was charged with criminal nuisance in the second-degree and harassment.
