The Buffalo Junior Sabres will have to dig out of an early hole in their second-round Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series against North York.

Buffalo dropped a 5-1 decision in Game One of the best-of-seven series at First Niagara Center on Wednesday night. Tyler Gjurich scored the lone goal for the Junior Sabres, who played their first game since completing a first-round sweep of Burlington on March 3.

John Carpino had fwo goals and two assists for the Rangers, who held a 26-9 edge in shots after two periods and 31-17 for the game. North York last played Friday when it clinched its series at Oakville in six games.

Game Two of this series is Friday night at North York. Buffalo hosts Game Three at 7 p.m. Saturday at Buffalo State Ice Arena.
