JAMESTOWN – LINKS Charity, which supports cancer care at Jamestown’s WCA Hospital, has announced that it has raised $100,000 during 2012 for the local fight against breast cancer.

The sum represents the first installment of a three-year $300,000 pledge toward the purchase of 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis equipment for the hospital to help its physicians to diagnose breast cancer.

Tomosynthesis is expected to replace conventional mammography for the detection of breast cancer.
