LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls woman who drove drunk with her two small children in the back seat was sentenced Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to five years’ probation and a $1,000 fine.

Rosita Rosa, 30, of 10th Street, had pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated, a violation of the statute known as Leandra’s Law which prescribes potential extra penalties for driving drunk with children as passengers.

Rosa’s children, ages 3 and 8, were in her car when it rear-ended a minivan May 5 on Memorial Parkway in the Falls. Rosa’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.19 percent.
