Maria Battista scored five goals for Niagara (2-4) in the Purple Eagles’ first women’s lacrosse victory ever over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday night in Lewiston. Niagara outscored the Bonnies, 6-3, in the second half for a 9-7 victory, which came after 11 straight losses in the rivalry which began in 2001. It was the first loss of the season the Bonnies (3-1).

Danielle Maio scored two goals and Carrie-Joe Ferrugia had a pair of goals and two assists for Niagara. Jenna Schlagenhauf scored three times for Bona, giving her 14 for the season. Erin Thomas had two goals and Marybeth Madia and Mikayla Place had single tallies for St. Bonaventure.
