WHEATFIELD – Two Lockport companies that are planning to expand – Diversified Manufacturing and Lake Effect Ice Cream – will submit applications for aid to the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency on Wednesday.
Diversified Manufacturing is planning a 37,167-square-foot expansion of its Ohio Street metal fabricating plant to accommodate the consolidation of Ipac, an Amherst company owned by the same man who owns Diversified, Brian F. Costello. About 65 jobs will be transferred from the Amherst plant, which is for sale, to the Lockport facility.
Lake Effect Ice Cream has purchased a vacant building at 79-81 Canal St. from the City of Lockport, and it has won approval for a 450-square-foot addition. The company plans to move its retail and ice-cream-making operation, which is now on Lock Street, to the Canal Street building. Lake Effect ice cream is sold at numerous supermarkets in the area.
