Today (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is the final day of the WNY Sport and Travel Expo at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.
The Expo will be packed with gear, tour, destination, and guiding experts at display booths in five buildings. Among celebrity seminars, the Expo will feature TV personalities Don and Kandi Kiski from the popular “Whitetail Freaks” program.
Area experts abound
Capt. Don Ruppert will help anglers improve catch counts on area waters. Food plots expert Paul Cwiklinski can show hunter-landowners how to plant small areas that will draw more and bigger deer.
Jim Beverly helps dog owners train themselves to work dogs effectively afield.

Maple Harvest doings
All kinds of activities and sweet maple syrup will be on tap from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend during the Buffalo Audubon Society’s Maple Harvest Festival at the Beaver Meadow Audubon Center in North Java.
Visitors can enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and then watch how syrup is drawn and cooked for consumption.
Exhibitors and bygone-era re-enactors will show how many processes of gathering and processing syrup occurs each late-winter and early-spring season.

The Southtowns Walleye Association’s annual Plymouth, Mass., fishing trip is set for April 25-28.
A $335 payment covers two days of fishing, three hotel nights with a group hospitality room and good company both on shore and on Atlantic waters.
