Monday, 7 p.m.: Reading and book signing with short story writer and novelist Jill McCorkle, author of “Life after Life,” a new novel about community life in a semi-rural Fulton, N.C.,-based retirement home. McCorkle is the author of five previous novels, including “Ferris Beach” (1990), “Carolina Moon” (1996), and “Tending to Virginia” (1997), and four short-story collections, all published by Algonquin Books. Tuesday, 7 p.m.: Canisius College Contemporary Writers Series reading featuring novelist Ron Hansen. He is the author of eight novels, including “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” (1983), “Mariette in Ecstasy” (1991), “Atticus” (1996) and “Exiles” (2008), as well as a collection of essays, “A Stay Against Confusion: Essays on Faith and Fiction” (2001). Saturday, 7 p.m.: “Superfreakin’ for the 21st Century,” a poetry reading hosted by Sean Thomas Dougherty and featuring Lillian-Yvonne Bertram, Corey Zeller and Noah Falck. A Buffalo native, Cave Canem Fellow, and Ph.D. candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Utah, Bertram is author of the debut collection “But a Storm is Blowing from Paradise,” winner of the 2010 Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award and published by Red Hen Press in 2013. Zeller, an Erie, Pa., native, is associate editor at Mud Luscious Press. His book “Man vs. Sky” was published by YesYes Books in February. Falck, a Dayton, Ohio native and former elementary school teacher, is the education director of Just Buffalo Literary Center.
