The University at Buffalo took home three championships Thursday on the first night of the Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Bulls set a school record in claiming the MAC championship in the 200-yard freestyle as Cory Zorsch, Matt Hogan, Ryan Smrekar and Mike Dugan finished in 1 minute, 19.65 seconds at the Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium at Southern Illinois University.
Dugan, a junior, earned an individual MAC title in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in 20.44 seconds.
UB set school and MAC Championship records in the winning the 400-yard medley relay as the team of Matt Schwippert, Josh Meints, Zorsch and Hogan finished in 3:13.18.
Hogan lowered his school record in finishing third in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:46.62, taking .14 seconds off his time from last season.
The Bulls stand third among the seven schools with 215.5 points. Eastern Michigan holds the lead with 242 points with Missouri State in second at 226.
MEN’S SOCCER: Brendan Murphy has been named the men’s soccer coach at D’Youville College. Murphy becomes the fifth coach since the program’s inception in 1999.
The Williamsville native comes to D’Youville after serving from 2010 to ’12 as an assistant/goalkeeper coach for UB.
