A Hertel Avenue woman faces Buffalo City Court proceedings on a second-degree assault charge lodged after she allegedly twice struck a nurse in the face while the nurse was treating her in the emergency room of Buffalo General Hospital about 6:15 p.m. Feb. 16, Erie County prosecutors said Thursday.
Ashley E. Leon, 21, currently free on bail, was not arrested until nine days after the alleged emergency room attack, according to police documents. She is accused of punching a registered nurse in the face twice and in the back of the nurse’s head before she was restrained.
The nurse had been administering first aid to her when the alleged assault took place, according to a police document. It did not say why she was in the emergency room in the first place.
