JAMESTOWN — Sophomore Mckenna Maycock scored 36 points, including a vital eight in the fourth quarter, to lead Randolph to a third straight Section VI Class C girls basketball championship Tuesday night with a 65-57 win over Frewsburg at Jamestown High.

It was anything but a routine victory for the Cardinals, who saw a 10-point halftime lead erased in the third quarter. After Frewsburg took a three-point lead in the fourth, coach Shawn Huntington’s team rallied to win it. A three by Maycock was a key basket in the surge.

Maycock made five threes as she approached her career high of 42 against Tapestry in a Class C-1 semifinal. She also had 13 rebounds.

Teammate Mandy Finch had 10 boards and 14 points.

Senior Shawna Raymond led Frewsburg with 20 points.

“It was a packed house — electric,” said Huntington of the atmosphere for the game between Chautauqua County rivals. “This championship was sweeter than the last two because this was our rebuilding year.”
