A 33-year-old man who refused to give Orchard Park police his home address was arrested after allegedly breaking into the Tabernatcle food pantry at 3185 Orchard Park Road about noontime Monday. Edward J. Lawrence is being held in the Erie County Holding Center pending court proceedings Thursday.
After police received a call about a man wearing a grey hoodie breaking into the food pantry, Police Officers William Hanrahan, William Speyer and Joseph Cullen rushed to the building and found a window Lawrence allegedly broke to get in the building. He was discovered hiding in a bathroom and was forcibly taken into custody. Police said he was uncooperative at Orchard Park Police Headquarters.
After trying to bite police officers, Lawrence was formally charged with felony burglary, felony criminal mischief, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment.
