LOCKPORT – The History Center of Niagara has received a New York State Council for the Humanities grant to develop programming regarding the War of 1812 in Niagara County, Director of Development Douglas Farley said.

The initiative awards up to $3,000 to cultural organizations to conduct programming connected to the bicentennial of the war.

The History Center project includes the creation of a map, to be released this summer, detailing sites in Niagara County that are associated with the War of 1812.

Also, the History Center’s assistant director, Ann Marie Linnabery, ► CQ ◄ will present a special lecture May 23 in the History Center focusing on the war’s impact on Niagara County. The lecture will be repeated June 22 in the Erie Canal Discovery Center, .
