A patent-tracking website took first place at Startup Weekend Buffalo, an intense 54-hour event held to boost the most promising ideas generated by area technology entrepreneurs.

Patent P.I. beat out 12 other teams to take the top prize in the competition, which ran from Friday to Sunday at Medaille College. The program, intended to provide easily accessible and reliable results to lawyers and innovators, earned its developers a $1,000 prize and free business services.

The LookTag website, which lets users tag outfits they see online and find online retailers where they can buy similar clothes, earned $500 for second place. Heads Up, a smartphone application married to an augmented-reality headset, came in third in the judging by a panel of business and technology veterans.

The event was the second Startup Weekend Buffalo, and five teams from last November’s version still are working to take their ideas to the marketplace. This weekend’s edition featured the youngest participant to date, Jack Porcari, who is 13 and was on the fourth-place team.

Also, Startup Weekend Buffalo sponsor You and Who, a custom T-shirt maker, donated 1,667 meals through its Who’s Hungry program to the Food Bank of Western New York.
