HONORING ALIX – Planning its biggest event yet is the Alix Rice Peace Park Foundation, which wants to build a state-of-the-art skate park to honor Alix, who was killed by a drunken driver in Amherst while longboarding home from work in 2011.

It’s a fundraiser from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Main-Transit Fire Hall, 6777 Main St., Amherst, with raffles, auctions, door prizes and music. Tickets are $20 and include pizza, beer and pop.

ERIN GO BRAGH – Get an early start on St. Patrick’s Day with Dublin star Tony Kenny, one of Ireland’s most beloved singers, who returns to Buffalo this week for the first time in six years with his Irish Celebration Cabaret. He performs Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi Parish Center, 4263 St. Francis Drive, Athol Springs, with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the show at 7:30.

Joining him will be Irish comedian Gene Fitzpatrick; Kenny’s daughter, the award-winning singer and dancer Victoria Kenny; the folk band the Dublin Trinity; and a troupe of Irish dancers. Tickets are $50 and include a corned beef or roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, plus beer, wine and pop throughout the evening. Proceeds benefit the Franciscan Center in South Buffalo. GRACE PERIOD – You have an extra week to make reservations for the first date in the spring Let’s Do Lunch series, formerly the Silver Foxes, at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St. Originally set for March 14, it has been postponed until March 21. Deadline for reservations, which must be made one week before the luncheon, has been moved back accordingly.

EARLY BIRDS – Entries already have arrived from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and across the U.S. for the Jamestown Audubon Society’s 2013 Nature Photography Contest, but there’s room for more. Entries can be submitted until June 30.
