The spaceship would provide 600 cramped cubic feet of living space, equivalent to a room measuring 10 feet by 15 feet – assuming a ceiling only 4 feet high. In this hypersonic petri dish, millionaire Dennis Tito proposes to incarcerate a married couple in their 50s, sending them on a 501-day second honeymoon that will come within 100 miles of Mars before returning home.

Think about spending the next year and a half in the den with your spouse, never being able to go out for a cup of coffee or watch a different TV show in the living room. It’s a scenario only a divorce lawyer could love.

OK, serious now: In keeping with the thousands of studies that prove what we already know (Babies do better if their parents hold them! No kidding!), we now have proof that a Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of heart disease in people at high risk. Diets rich in olive oil, nuts, beans, fish, fruits and vegetables can help prevent about 30 percent of heart attacks, strokes and deaths from heart disease, the study found. The diet helped participants to become healthier, even if they didn’t lose weight.

We have been put on notice.

Tone deaf. Insensitive. Absurd. Outrageous. And, well, just plain stupid.

That’s the only way to describe a prominent Brooklyn assemblyman’s bad decision to wear blackface to a party he hosted last weekend to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim.

Democratic Assemblyman Dov Hikind donned an Afro wig, orange jersey, sunglasses and brown makeup or face paint as part of a costume that, according to reports, he said represented a “black basketball player.”

Of course, Hikind expressed surprise at the blowback his action caused after a photograph of him in costume circulated in political circles and on social media. After all, where is the insensitivity in dressing in blackface?

We would suggest the assemblyman spend some of his future party time studying American history. Or, he could reapply his blackface and walk around New York City trying to hail a cab.
