Police agencies have still not found the body of a local man who is believed to have jumped off the south Grand Island Bridge on Friday morning.
Investigators believe they know the identity of the man, who is believed to be in his 60s, but state police said Saturday they will not be able to confirm the identity until his body is found.
Witnesses reported seeing the man jump off the bridge near the southbound traffic lanes around 9:45 a.m. Friday. State Police found a pickup truck, which they believe was owned by the man, abandoned on East River Road on Grand Island.
So far, search efforts on the Niagara River have been unsuccessful, police said at 10 a.m. today.
