George M. Colvin Jr., a retired Bell Aerospace employee, died Wednesday at his home in Depew. He was 81.

Born in Buffalo, he was an Army corporal during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.

From 1954 until his retirement in 1991, Mr. Colvin held several positions at Bell Aerospace Textron in Wheatfield, including instrument technician, technical writer and proposal manager.

He also owned Franklin’s Printing in Depew from 1992 to 1998.

Mr. Colvin was a member of the Lancaster Lions Club for more than 10 years and served as president in 1996.

While he resided in Florida, Mr. Colvin received his insurance license and certification of insurance. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in West Seneca.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, the former Irene Chutko; five sons, Joseph, James, Brian, Kevin and George III; a daughter, Lynne Johnson; a stepdaughter, Julianne Renczkowski; a stepson, Thaddeus Piusienski; and two sisters, Deanna Pacini and Sharon Lis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered a 10 a.m. today in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6441 Seneca St., Elma.
